UTV and ATV registration

Side-by-sides and ATVs need a clear intended-use selection. A highway-use request, an off-road-only request and a combined request can lead to different document and equipment requirements.

Tell us how the vehicle will be used

Select street, off-road only, or both in the quote. This answer controls which registration options are relevant. Do not choose a street-use option solely to obtain a plate if the vehicle has not been reviewed for the necessary requirements.

Understand the quadricycle path

The Montana highway-use path for eligible UTVs and ATVs can involve quadricycle classification and required equipment. The order-specific checklist explains the inspection and supporting documents needed. Acceptance depends on the actual vehicle and submitted paperwork.

Retain ownership evidence

Have the title, MCO or COO and available purchase records ready. If the ownership documents are missing, select that answer so the application can be reviewed. A VIN inspection identifies the vehicle but does not automatically settle an incomplete ownership chain.

Keep use restrictions separate

A registration credential does not override the operating rules where the vehicle will be driven. Confirm the requirements for your intended roads and trails. Review the final selected use and optional fees before adding the quote to the cart.

Frequently asked questions

Are personalized plates offered for off-road-only UTVs?

No. The quote hides that option for off-road-only requests.

Can I quote both street and off-road registration?

Yes. Select Both to review the applicable combined service and itemized adjustment. Eligibility and document requirements still need to be met.
