Temporary tag expiring: extension timing and next steps
Start with the issue and expiration dates printed on the tag you actually received. An extension is a separate eligible service; beginning a quote or making a payment does not extend the dates printed on an existing tag.

Check the extension window
The 24HourTags 90-day extension service is limited to one extension per vehicle, within ten days before or after the initial 40-day tag expires. Have the existing tag and vehicle details ready so the request can be reviewed against the correct record.
Choose the intended service
The vehicle selector offers a standalone 40-day temporary tag and a 90-day extension. If you already have an eligible initial tag and need more time, select the extension service instead of buying another initial tag by mistake. Review the service label before Add to Cart.
Keep permanent paperwork moving
An extension request does not resolve missing ownership documents, lender permission or incomplete registration forms. Continue working through the requirements for the underlying order and contact the team if you are unsure which items remain outstanding.
Wait for issued credentials
Follow the validity and use restrictions on the credential issued for your vehicle. A request, saved quote or payment receipt is not an issued tag. Contact support about timing or eligibility before relying on an extension, and do not assume the initial tag remains valid beyond its printed dates.
